Meet the team

Richard Arris

Richard Arris began his career in investment management in the City in the early 1980’s and in the 1990’s opened the first office outside of London for one of the large listed investment managers.

After running the office for over 20 years, he left to join The Investment Boutique with Raymond James Investment Services.

He has a wealth of knowledge and experience of both managing money and getting to know clients and helping them manage their finances.

Richard lives in Kent with his wife Davina and their four children. When he is not working, he can be found riding his motorbike, driving sports cars or listening to the blues.

Helena Bakunowicz

After achieving a first-class degree in International Relations from Loughborough, Helena joined a large private client investment manager on their graduate trainee program. Rising to assistant director in just six years, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to set up The Investment Boutique in 2017.

A perfectionist by nature, Helena strives to give clients the very best experience. An advocate for sustainability, environmental and governance investing, she sits on the Network for Women Wealth Managers committee and has been recognised by Raymond James Investment Services who first asked her to represent them at the Aspire Symposium in Florida in 2018.

Helena lives in London with her husband and her beloved cat Juno. When she is not at work, she enjoys travel, good food and the occasional exercise class to keep her in shape.

Natasha Mallen

After gaining an English Literature degree from the University of Roehampton, Natasha began her career in financial services with Aegon in 2001. Subsequently, she worked for various Independent Financial Advisers where she obtained qualifications in financial planning.

At The Investment Boutique, Natasha keeps the show on the road by taking responsibility for all of the administration. She has quickly become an integral member of the team and is much valued by colleagues and clients alike.

She lives locally with her family and enjoys baking cakes, good food and wine.

Stuart Leake

After graduating from City University, Stuart Leake has had a long career in investment management. Starting at Paine Webber in the 1980’s, he worked in Hong Kong before 10 years at Harris Allday and 11 years at Brewin Dolphin, finally joining The Investment Boutique in 2019.

As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, Stuart brings vast knowledge and experience. The careful and reliable attitude he takes to investment is at odds with his skiing style, which has led to the odd tumble over the years.

He is a keen golfer and his latest passion is Elsa, his golden Labrador. He lives in Dorking with his wife, Valerie and has two grown up children.

Lucia Jenkins

Lucia began her career in the motor industry where she progressed through various departments; including finance, corporate sales and for the last 11 years as Marketing Manager for Bentley, Lamborghini and Aston Martin.

Following many successful collaborations, Lucia decided to join Richard and Helena at The Investment Boutique to act as the in-house marketing expert, events planner, as well as being responsible for the office management.

Lucia is highly regarded by everyone and will always hold a special place as she was The Investment Boutique’s first employee.

At home in Caterham, Lucia lives with her husband Brian. She maintains her interest in luxury cars, especially Aston Martins and enjoys interior design. Fluent in Spanish, she is now learning Italian and will be able to order a glass of champagne almost anywhere.

David Ferry

David belongs to the small group of professionally qualified Certified and Chartered Financial Planners with the added advantage of over 30 years of practical advisory experience.

His career background has included working for many years as a financial planner and investment manager with professional service companies such as Ernst & Young and BDO Stoy Hayward.

David opened his own successful practice Ferry Financial at Raymond James in 2007 and additionally agreed to work at The Investment Boutique in 2020.

Based in Stratford upon Avon he lives with Jess and Gus the dog. In his spare time David is a serious petrolhead indulging his passion for driving and maintaining his classic cars on the road and track. Other favoured methods of transport include cycling and a snowboard.

Derek Mackinlay

Derek began his career in finance as a salesman for a life office but quickly realised that he would rather deal with clients directly and so retrained as an independent financial adviser. After working in a variety of roles at different firms he established Mackinlay Associates in 2012. With a reputation for straight talking and getting the job done, he has built a successful business reliant entirely on referrals.

He was welcomed into The Investment Boutique in 2018 where he provides Financial Planning services to complement the investment managers.

When his suit comes off, it is occasionally replaced with the red Venetian tunic, knee length breeches, and 12 ft pike of the Pikemen and Musketeers from the Honourable Artillery Company in the City. This causes much mirth from his wife and two daughters. When not in the seventeenth century he is an accomplished tennis player and keen cyclist.

Gabriel Haynes

After Graduating from Durham during Covid lockdown with a 2:1 In Engineering, Gabriel cut his teeth in the world of work as a Market Analyst at Momentum Investment Solutions & Consulting for about a year before joining The Investment Boutique as our Assistant Portfolio Manager.

Outside work, he enjoys fine food and then works it off in the gym. Constantly striving to improve himself, Gabriel is currently learning Dutch.

Despite being the most recent addition to the team, he brings a lot to the party, including the ability to make a spreadsheet so complicated, it almost breaks the computer.
